En La Cocina Para Mi Amor (In the Kitchen for My Love)

MCCN’s long awaited Show En La Cocina Para Mi Amor puts you in the kitchen with Honduran Chef Jay Bonilla cooking for your loved one.  In webisode one, Jay helps a Lupe, a wife with a fear of cooking for her semi-chef husband who loves to plate dishes.  Her husband Daniel admits, “I’d be happy with a grilled cheese sandwich if she made it because I love her.”  Aw, we could not resist such a story plus it is a multi-cultural marriage of Mexican-American and Lebanese American.  Watch Chef Jay help Lupe. 1. Dear Chef Jay,

Congratulations on En La Cocina Para Mi Amor . I am excited about trying your recipes!

We are Honduras Hope, a non-profit volunteer 501(c)(3) group that is building a culinary school in Yoro, Honduras. For more than 10 years, we have worked side by side with marginalized people in two communities, supporting their efforts in accomplishing self-determined projects, building schools and clinics, agricultural and nutrition projects, providing clean water and solar lights, and housing improvements. Young people are staying in school, and going on to university and vocational school, studying to be teachers, bankers, TV journalists, and doctors.

We are working to create job opportunity for the people of the communities of Plan Grande and San Jose de Machuga, near Yoro. The Common Man restaurant chain in New Hampshire has provided most of the building expense ($150,000 so far) for the new “green” building which will house the school and a small catering hall. Our goal is to train chefs, restaurant managers and hospitality staff, and connect them with jobs in nearby Roatan.

We need help in two ways: we need to raise the rest of the construction money–about $30,000 and we need to find chefs to teach at the school. Is there any way you could help us accomplish these goals? Is there any chance that you would be willing to be the special celebrity chef for our fundraiser?

Check us out on our website: http://www.hondurashope.org. and you will see that our commitment to the Honduran people runs deep. Won’t you help us help them?

    Thank you for your consideration.

    Victoria Schuh,
    Honduras Hope
