For the second year in a row, Denny’s announced plans to serve Free Grand Slam breakfasts as part of its Super Bowl campaign. The giveaway will take place on Tuesday, February 9th, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the company expects to serve 2 million free meals including some signature dishes such as waffles, pancakes, sausage and eggs. Dennys has over 1,500 locations nationwide.
In addition to the free breakfast on Tuesday, Denny’s is also offering a chance to win a free breakfast once a week as part of their rewards program. The first 500,000 people to sign up can win a free burger and fries, which they can eat in March.
CHAYA Restaurants has partnered with Careers through Culinary Arts Programs (C-CAP) to help educate and train underserved high school students who want to pursue a career in the restaurant industry and is the first to launch C-CAP LA’s Adopt-a-School program.
Fifteen culinary students from Hollywood, West Adams and Westchester high schools will compete in a “Top Tuna Tartare Chef” competition at CHAYA Downtown as part of C-CAP’s Adopt-a-School Program. CHAYA’s Executive Chef Shigefumi Tachibe and CHAYA Downtown’s Chef de Cuisine, Kazuya Matsuoka will judge the competition, along with Executive Director for C-CAP, Los Angeles, Mitzie Cutler.
CHAYA has an unprecedented 390-year history of restaurants owned and operated by the same Tsunoda family both in Japan and California. CHAYA began under an enormous shade tree in Hayama, Japan, centuries ago, where they offered tea, sweets and respite to weary horseback travelers. Today, there are two locations in Japan (Hikage CHAYA and La Marée de CHAYA) and four locations in California (Beverly Hills, Venice, Downtown LA, and San Francisco).
Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) works with public schools across the country to prepare underserved high school students for college and career opportunities in the restaurant and hospitality industry. On Tuesday, November 24th Donny Osmond known for being American as Apple Pie showed the world his “Milkshake” in the words of Khalis to win the “Dancing With the Stars” competition. Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson from “Dancing With The Stars” visit Millions of Milkshakes in West Hollywood to create their own custom shakes. “Donny’s Decadence” incorporates his all time favorite ingredients vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips, almonds, and caramel sauce topped off with a Kit Kat bar. Kym Johnson’s “Java Jive” includes a little caffeine kick to keep her jive grooving. It combines vanilla ice cream, coffee, and a crushed Kit Kat bar. Their joint milkshake, “The Tango Fruit Twist”, includes vanilla ice cream, strawberries, peaches, raspberries,and mandarin oranges.
