What is the Dream Dinners Experience?

MCCN Editor with Dream Dinners Team

Review by Crystal A. Johnson-Dream Dinners has been around for a few years, long enough for most to have some idea about what it may be.  The Dream Dinners experience is like a living cookbook where you are in the kitchen at Dream Dinners putting together gourmet to comfort food recipes with the dream  fresh ingredients at your disposal.  You package the dinners on site then simply take home to cook or freeze the meal until you are read for it.  Dream Dinners is a different experience for everyone.  The first time I had the good fortune to experience dream dinner was when I won a raffle drawing giving away quite a big value.    If you are single like me a little goes a long way.   Afterall, I am food & restaurant critic so I am not a fan of repetitive or staying within one cultural box for cooking.  However, many people really do like more classic American comfort.  Dream dinners has both.

For my visit to Dream Dinners I asked the Romy, owner of the Granada Hills location to share with me the best sellers so Romy provided items listed from classics portion of the menu such as Italian stuffed shells, blackened Salmon with pineapple salsa and steak with garlic and herb butter.   For me, these choices would never be my choice.  It is not because they are not good menu items,  In fact the pineapple salsa is quite tasty.  The stuffed shells had an extra ingredient that I have never consider before but for my culinary arc I need menu items that challenge me.  So bring on the one classic item I was given to review that I actually have tried before,  the lemon artichoke chicken.  This dish, I I am a big time fan of it.  It is simple but not every day.  In the month of my visit other menu items include the crispy sesame chicken with gingered green beans.  Now that is what I am talking about. Caliente pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes and baked Riviera cod and buttery peanut chicken with brown rice are also menu items.  Thus, there is something for everyone.

This is one of our signature dishes, often asked for and always loved! Our all natural chicken breasts are baked with the savory tang of capers and mellowed with the natural sweetness of dried plums. The finished dish is perfect for entertaining or a nice way to treat yourself at the end of a busy day.

ARROZ CON POLLO
Fluffy white rice, black beans, corn, natural chicken breasts and zesty red salsa are all layered, then topped with cheese and baked until bubbly and golden brown, to create this one pan meal that is quick to fix. A Dream Dinners’ Signature dish for the last 7 years!

BUILD YOUR OWN CALZONES
Always popular, these 12″” calzones can be customized to please everyone in the family! With a blend of cheeses and choice of olives, red peppers, chicken, pepperoni, or sausage crumbles, you can create your own masterpiece all wrapped up in a pizza dough then baked to a golden brown and served with warm marinara sauce.

PESTO CHEESE RAVIOLI WITH CHICKEN & WALNUTS
These Italian cheese filled ravioli are tossed with chicken and our basil pesto sauce then garnished with walnuts. It’s no wonder our guests voted this their favorite recipe as our 2008 “”guests choice””. This meal is sure to please whether serving family or guests for dinner!

CHICKEN WITH HONEY, GARLIC & ORANGE
Beautiful and elegant, this recipe is perfect for a special dinner, yet kid friendly enough for any night of the week. Our Honey-Orange sauce sweetens and glazes our tender, boneless chicken breasts. Grill or oven broil for a quick and easy meal that all will enjoy!

SAVORY GRILLED PORK CHOPS WITH SWEET POTATO FRIES
Our tender, boneless pork chops are rubbed with a special blend of garlic and herbs and grilled to a golden brown. We’ve paired them with our baked sweet potato fries – sweet and creamy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. One of our best combinations yet!

COCONUT SHRIMP WITH SWEET & SOUR SAUCE AND JASMINE RICE
These golden brown skewers of shrimp are coated with a sweet coconut crust. They bake up in only 15 minutes and will disappear from the dinner table. Serve with our kicked-up sweet & sour sauce for a quick and easy dinner or serve as an appetizer at your next party.

GARLIC BALSAMIC MARINATED STEAK
Full of flavor and ready to grill or oven broil. Lean and juicy 4oz steaks are marinated in a sweet, yet tart, mixture of balsamic vinegar, thyme, garlic and molasses to give these steaks their fabulous flavor.

BRUSCHETTA CHICKEN SKEWERS
This healthy chicken dish is designed to be either a lovely family dinner or a fun appetizer at your next party! You can simply bake and serve or slice the chicken breasts and thread onto skewers (provided) and bake. Complimented by the classic flavors of a bruschetta topping blending chopped tomatoes, garlic, basil, olive oil and spices.

SESAME GINGER SALMON
A true Dream Dinner – it’s fast, easy and heart healthy! Simply grill or oven broil these salmon fillets then drizzle with our delicious glaze exploding with the flavors of ginger, soy sauce, fresh green onion and lemon. Serve as a full filet or bite size pieces as an appetizer.
