Maya Rudolph is an American film and television actress. She is the daughter of producer Richard “Dick” Rudolph and soul and R&B singer Minnie Riperton. Maya’s mother died when Maya was seven years old.

Maya’s father is Jewish (from a family from Russia, Germany, and Hungary). Maya’s mother was African-American.

While working on Saturday Night Live, Rudolph’s ability to deliver countless accents and change her looks with the switch of a wig, allowed her to play an unusually wide range of ethnicities on the show. During her seven years on the show she portrayed characters that were white, black, Asian, Latina as well as people of mixed cultural backgrounds.
